Poem composed by John Penniman
ORHS Shortstop and classmate of Kevin. (Class of 2001)
July 8, 1999
Good-bye, my friend.
Your time with us was not enough.
I guess life must go on,
But it has been so very tough.
I still don't understand
Why you had to go.
Every day I search for a reason,
But only God must know.
It was an honor to play beside you
And even greater to call you my friend.
Even though you passed away,
Your life will never end.
We will carry you everywhere,
In our hearts and in our minds
Never once forgetting
All those crazy times.
You touched so many while you were here
And hundreds more when you passed away.
Our eyes can squeeze not one more tear,
But your memory burns stronger with every passing day.
So, Nancy and Jerry, forget those fears
That your broken heart may send.
Allow us to comfort you
And maybe help you mend.
Kevin, I wish I could have thanked you
Or even said good bye,
But even then
You would have had to see me cry.
And you know
As well as me,
You would have laughed
At your boy Joe P.
They say good bye is forever
I say…
Good bye, my friend
I know we will meet again.
